PHOTOJOURNALISM
“Photography is the simplest thing in the world, but it is incredibly complicated to make it really work.”
– Martin Parr
USING PHOTOS IN NEWS
While writing and editing are my stronger passions, I constantly seek to expand my journalism abilities through photography. Photos are worth a thousand words and can be especially useful when writing important stories or conveying messages that words cannot express. Despite the lighting, unwanted figures, and photo editing challenges, I have improved my skills with every article and captured several eye-catching images.
STOLEN BUS BRINGS AWARENESS TO NONPROFIT CANCER CARE ORGANIZATION
I wrote this article in light of the nonprofit Bay Area Cancer Connections (BACC) finding their mobile care bus stolen and ransacked of the supplies and care support items they bring to their cancer patients. I included this photo gallery to show their materials at their stationary office and the types of items taken from their bus. I also wanted to illustrate the warmth and openness of their fixed office despite the harsh reality of their situation.
RAMSES THE GREAT EXHIBIT IMMERSES VIEWERS IN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN HISTORY
My partner and I wrote this article on a new exhibit at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. It was an especially significant exhibit because it was the first time most display pieces left Egypt and likely the last time for several decades. We included a photo gallery of various artifacts and displays to show a sneak peek into the exhibit and encourage more readers to check it out.
